Wales azaz Cymru wales-i nyelven.
Egy természeti szépségekkel és történelmi emlékekkel bőségesen megáldott kicsi ország.
Ahogy az ember átlép Angliából Wales-be, megváltozik a táj. Meseszép magas hegyek, végeláthatatlan zöldellő völgyek. Jó negyed Magyarországnyi területén 641 kastély áll, a brikák száma is megsokszorozódik, 3 millió lakosára 15 millió birka jut. Észak-Wales, ahol a népesség több mint fele wales-iül beszél.
3 nap alatt az északi régió alábbi látnivalóit néztük meg:
- Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall. A UK legmagasabb, 80 m magasból alázúduló vízesése.
- Pontcysyllte’s aqueduct a Dee folyó felett 39 méterrel a wales-i-angol, határon.
- Snowdonia National Park, Snowdon Summit/hegycsúcs – Eryri wales-iül, a jelentése pedig: “the place of the eagles”.
- Isle of Anglesey – Anglesey szigete és Holyhead a sziget legnagyobb városa. Holyhead észak-nyugati csücskén egy kis szigeten található a South Stack lighhouse.
- Conwy tengerparti kereskedőváros.
- Caernafon Castle
